135 minutes til the weekend. Libations, fishing, front row to Chicago and the Doobs. No bad days.
I fished the West Fork of the Walker River last week. The fishing was ok, but nothing to write home about. We ventured further up to the Little Walker River where our luck ran out. With the amount of feed in the water, one would expect the fishing to be in full force. Every rock we turned had a big ol’ juicy rib-eye like this on it, but after a couple of hours and only one fish we decided to call it a day.
Phew it has been hot! Fishing on the Truckee has been good for some (ok for me…) You have to hit it early or be willing to stay late, but forget it during the heat of the day. Typical stuff is still working. Stones, caddis and bigger drys. Fish the fast stuff and get low. Here is a nice one from the other day.
I had a free hour on Tuesday afternoon so I ran downtown and stuck a couple of fish including this nice red on a Golden Chukar Stone. Fishing on the Truckee has been really good. Especially on the Nevada side. Baetis and Stones have been the bugs of choice while the BWO hatch in the afternoon always spices things up.
